Ministry Report 2011

Youth

This year has been a challenging one in the area of youth especially. Due to the change in leadership, with Bryan moving across to Edenvale, the leaders that he trained took the reins in this ministry. The leaders focused on building personal relationships with the youth to develop them in their relationship with God.

We have been having youth every Friday that consists of an activity and then the teaching from the bible. Some of the activities include volleyball, Capture the flame, mini-Olympics, Pudding auction, Drive-in, Amazing race and Sugar-Rush-Records, all ending with Sonseeker Globes at the end of the year as a prize giving. We have looked at a series by Dave West and Tim Keller and will be looking at a book called “Just for Starters” in the final term.

Kyle Brand and Stefan Von Buddenbrock have arranged another activity that occurs every Sunday afternoon before Sunday@6 called “Any Given Sunday” where they arrange activities that are there to bring together the church.

There have been quarterly regional youth event happening (Cutting Edge), which gave them an opportunity to see that there are more like minded Christians around and to create a community of unity. At the end of the year there will be another annual youth camp (Crossword) with all those in the region which is an amazing opportunity to come together to be encouraged by God’s word.

We would like to thanks all those involvedin the youth ministry: Angela Hare, Jessica Artingstall, Thomas Von Buddenbrock, Lance Von Buddenbrock, Irene Zondi, Kyle Brand and Jessica Howes. They have spent a lot of time in the background allowing the activities to continue through the year.
