We're
here to (above all) give glory to God, “For from Him and through Him
and to Him are all things, to Him be the glory forever. Amen” - Romans
11v36.
The Lord, our Hope
His delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does nor wither. Whatever he does prospers.
Psalm 1:2-3
It is our duty to make the Lord our hope; His approval the good we hope for
and His power the strength we hope in. He who does this shall be like a tree
planted by the waters; a choice tree which, with great care has been set in the best soil.
He shall be like a tree that spreads its roots and, firmly fixed, spreads them
out by the waters where he can draw an abundance of sap. Those who make God their
hope are easy and enjoy a continual security and serenity of mind. A tree that
is so planted and so watered shall not, when the heat comes, sustain any damage
from the heat of summer. Its roots are so well moistened that it will be
protected from drought.
They shall flourish like a tree that is always green, whose leaf does not wither.
They shall be cheerful in themselves and beautiful in the eyes of others.
They shall be anchored in an inward peace and satisfaction. They shall not be
fearful in a year of drought when there is a need for rain for, as the tree has
seed in itself, so it has its moisture. Those who trust in God and, by faith,
derive strength and grace from Him shall not stop yielding fruit.
Matthew Henry
Hope Building
We will have confidence on the day of judgement because in this world we are like Him.
1 John 4:17
I rejoice in the hope of that great glory to be revealed for it is no uncertain
glory that we look for. Our hope is not as insecure as, “I imagine so,” or “It is likely,”
but on the assurance of the strong tow cable of our fastened anchor; it is the
oath and promise of Him who is eternal certainty. Our salvation is fastened
with God’s own hand and with Christ’s own strength to a strong stake of God’s
unchangeable nature. To us, hope does nor mean “I hope so”, our hope is “I know so!”
It was the poet Dante who best pictures what awaits those of you who are hopeless.
Who can ever forget his description of the entrance to hell, with its inscription
above the smouldering gate, “Leave behind all hope, you who enter here.”
Thank God for His Divine Providence in that He has provided a way of escape from
the road to hell, through the blood of His Son Jesus Christ. That is the basis
of our hope, the strong stake of God’s unchanging nature.
Samuel Rutherford
Heaven – Its Hope
They were longing for a better country – a heavenly one.Hebrews 11:l6
It seems perfectly reasonable that God should encourage us by giving us a glimpse
of the future. When loved ones are taken away from us, the question frequently
asked is “Where are they?” and “Will I ever see them again?” It is then that we
should turn to the Bible, for there is no other book in all the world that can
give us the slightest hope and comfort; no other book that can tell us where our
loved ones have gone. Would anyone take away from a grieving man the hope that
if we put our trust in God we will meet our loved ones in the future.
“But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has?
But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it
patiently.”Romans 8:24b
Hope fills the afflicted soul with such inward joy and consolation, that it can
laugh while tears are in the eyes, sigh and sing all in one breath. It is
called “the rejoicing of hope”. Hebrews 3:6 (KJV).

Jehovah-Shalom
Jehovah-Shalom means that God is your peace.
When people hear the word “peace” they often think of the
absence of war, but God’s peace means something totally different.
When Jesus was born these words were heard, “Peace on
earth…”. This did not mean that wars had ceased on earth.
It meant that Peace on earth was a person. Jesus is the Prince of peace.
God’s peace means that you can have peace with God and the peace
of God abiding in you.
Jehovah-Shammah
His presence with you is the hope of your
life, the peace in your mind, and the song in your heart. His presence
means that it is well with your soul. It is His desire to be at the centre of who you are and all you do.
Where would we be without Him!
